Bauhinia

Bauhinia plants, often called orchid trees, are ornamental flowering plants known for their butterfly-shaped leaves and large orchid-like blooms in shades of pink, purple, white, or yellow. They grow well in warm tropical and subtropical climates and can be maintained as small trees or shrubs. Bauhinia prefers full sun to partial sunlight for healthy flowering, ideally receiving 5–6 hours of direct light daily. Plant in well-draining soil with moderate organic matter. Water regularly during the growing season, keeping the soil slightly moist but never waterlogged; once established, the plant becomes moderately drought tolerant. Reduce watering during cooler or rainy periods. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and encourage fresh growth. Feed with a balanced fertilizer during spring and summer for abundant blooms. Protect young plants from frost and strong winds for best growth.
