Heliconia 'Sexy Pink'
Heliconia chartacea 'Sexy Pink' is a stunning tropical perennial famed for its cascading, flamingo-pink and pale-green bracts (modified leaves). To keep this exotic showstopper thriving, simulate its native rainforest habitat:
Lighting: Provide bright, indirect light or partial shade. While it tolerates gentle morning sun, intense afternoon sunlight can scorch its delicate foliage and fade the vibrant bracts.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but never waterlogged. Water deeply whenever the top inch of soil feels slightly dry. Reduce watering frequency during cooler winter months to prevent root rot.
Care & Humidity: This tropical native demands high humidity (above 60%) and warm temperatures between 70–85°F (21–29°C). Feed monthly during the growing season with a balanced, slow-release organic fertilizer. Plant in rich, well-draining soil, and prune away dead stems at the base after flowering to encourage vigorous new growth.
