Colocasia esculenta 'Tropical Storm'
With its dark, nearly black leaves that turns creamy white in the center as the season goes on, this striking new Colocasia is sure to turn heads. Furthermore, compared to other cultivars, it is more compact at around 2½ feet tall and wide. Purple-black foliage with a creamy white streak in the center during the summer. In comparison to other elephant ears, it also has a more compact habit.
Being big feeders, colocasias benefit from rich, organic soil. Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer (like seaweed) where you are growing it, feed it once a month while it is growing, and keep the soil damp. It must be kept at temperatures higher than 21°C to avoid it going dormant and losing its leaves. In winter, use water sparingly.
